On the evening of Thursday 12th December, our Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Technology and Food Technology departments gathered in the Covered Courtyard for our Dedication to Creativity Awards evening.
This glamorous event served to celebrate those students who have shown dedication to our creative subjects, both in their lessons, and in extra-curricular activities and support.
Each subject area awarded four students, before one was named as the department overall winner.
Our guests were welcomed with a drink, served by our Food Technology students, whilst viewing some of the work produced by our Design and Engineering, and Visual Arts students before being entertained by some of our Music and Drama students.
The evening, hosted by Ms Hobbs and Mr Boyes, opened with vocal numbers from Meredith, Libby and Jasmine, with Mrs Cobb's 'Wilde' company performing an abridged version of 'A Christmas Carol', and a special video performance from our Dance companies in-between the presentation of awards, before Georgie, Libby, Scarlett, Jasmine and Meredith invited everyone to join them in singing Jingle Bell Rock to close the evening.
Head of Drama, Mrs Cobb, who spearheaded the organisation of the event said "this glamorous event was the first Awards Evening held specifically for creative students, focusing on their dedication. Being a creative student often requires a lot of extra work, perfecting, shaping, developing and refining skills, sometimes alone but often with others, requiring great trust and commitment. The team effort that went into creating such a beautiful evening never ceases to amaze me and I feel so lucky to have been able to have been a part of it. The students of Herne Bay High have such talent and dedication, I hope we have been able to start a new tradition in order to celebrate this."
We look forward to celebrating more of our students achievements as the academic year progresses.
