Applying to HBHS Sixth Form
Learning Agreement & Expectations
At the start of Year 12 all students sign a 6th Form Learning Agreement & Contract which details their roles and responsibility within the 6th form. An example is detailed below:
Students normally study 3 subjects at Level 3 and it is important that you use organise your time. Your non-contact time is a private study lesson, and you will be expected to work in the study area or in a quiet area of the school. Students who use their time effectively are the most successful in their outcomes.
Academic & Pastoral Support
Students attend AM mentor time (If they have a lesson period one) and this allows time with their mentor who will be on their Post 18 journey with them. A mentor will help support a student academically.
Students receive regular progress reports to enable them and their family to monitor their progress against their minimum expected grades using the Advanced Learner Performance System (ALPS).
Additionally, the Year Managers will provide academic and pastoral support.
The 6th Form Team aim to provide individual and group care for all students, whether that is academic or emotional wellbeing support. Students have access to all elements of wellbeing support to ensure they feel safe and supported: Our CASS Team - Wellbeing and Student Support - Herne Bay High School. All students are in a house which forms part of the larger school community.
