Head of Year & Teacher

Pay Scale: MPS/UPS + TLR2C

Herne Bay High School is looking for an inspiring Head of Year to lead a year group of around 260–270 students, helping them achieve their best academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a role for a dynamic leader who can motivate, guide, and support students and staff alike.

What You’ll Do

• Provide outstanding pastoral leadership, ensuring every student feels valued, safe, and supported

• Lead and inspire a dedicated team of mentors and support staff

• Promote excellent attendance, behaviour, and engagement across the year group

• Support vulnerable learners, including those in care, on Pupil Premium, with SEND, or requiring additional support

• Deliver assemblies, year group sessions, and enrichment activities

• Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues

• Maintain accurate records for behaviour, safeguarding, and interventions

• Contribute to whole-school initiatives and policies
