Spanish Football Tour
3 Jul

This week, some of our footballing students are on tour to Barcelona.

Here is the Day One update from Miss Wellings:

What a fantastic start to our tour! It was an early morning, with everyone arriving at school for a 4am start, but the students were full of excitement and ready for the trip ahead. We travelled to Gatwick Airport, checked in smoothly, and enjoyed a comfortable flight to Barcelona!

After landing, we transferred by coach to our hotel, where everyone settled into their rooms but were met with a swift turn around to head towards the football fixtures! The weather has not disappointed, with temperatures a (very uncomfortable) 33 degrees Celsius!

As the afternoon went on the students enjoyed taking part in the football fixtures against Spanish opposition.

Results:

  • Year 10- 0-0
  • Year 9- 2-1 win
  • Girls Team 2-1 loss

The students represented the school brilliantly, showing excellent teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout. It was a great way to kick off the tour and everyone should be proud of their efforts.

Following the matches, we returned to the hotel for a well-earned dinner before winding down for the evening. Despite the early start, spirits remained high, and the students are looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow!

Day Two:

Hola!

Day two kicked off the day with breakfast at the hotel before collecting our packed lunches and started getting ready for an exciting day ahead.

The day started with us visiting the beautiful city of Barcelona, where we had some free time to explore the famous La Rambla. Students brought some souvenirs, enjoyed the atmosphere, enjoyed visiting the air conditioned shopping centre and had to chance to take plenty of photos!

We then headed to the Espanyol training ground, where the real football action began. The students trained with professional Espanyol coaches, learning new skills, developing their techniques, and experiencing what it was like to train at a top European club. The facilities the students experienced were simply breathtaking!

We then travelled to Camp Nou and enjoyed a visit to the ‘Camp Nou Immersive Museum’. The interactive exhibits brought the incredible history and magic of FC Barcelona to life, giving everyone a memorable insight into one of football’s most iconic clubs. Students then had the chance to visit the mega store and enjoyed the exciting atmosphere created by being in what is arguably one of the best football stadiums in the world!

Later, we returned to the Espanyol training ground for another fantastic training session. It was a brilliant opportunity to put everything learnt earlier in the day into practice, with everyone working hard, improving their skills, and finishing the day on a real high. Although the day was non stop, the opportunities the students experienced today will hopefully stay with them for a very long time! We move on to day three where a visit to Port Aventura is on the agenda!

Day Three:

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, the students collected their packed lunches and set off for an exciting day at PortAventura Theme Park. When we say the levels of excitement were high, this being an understatement, everyone was really looking forward to experiencing the thrilling rides and having the day to explore the theme park.

Throughout the day, students made the most of everything the park had to offer. From adrenaline-pumping rollercoasters to fun family rides, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The students were laughing and smiling from start to finish and unforgettable memories were made.

After an action-packed day, the group returned to the hotel in the early evening, tired but of course had enough energy to have an hour in the hotel's swimming pool where they enjoyed the inflatable obstacle course the hotel put on. The students attention then turned to tuning in to watch the England Game, which (luckily) ended with a victory, this allowed the wonderful day to end on a high! It was a fantastic day filled with fun, smiles, and plenty of happy memories!

Day Four:

What a fantastic final day! The students were greeted with an early start, enjoyed their last breakfast in the hotel before collecting their packed lunches and checking out of our accommodation. We then travelled to the Footgolf venue, where everyone had a brilliant time taking part in the activity, showing a healthy amount of competition, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. We then had a bit of time before being collected where the students enjoyed a short presentation where some awards were handed out.

After a fun morning, the group transferred to Barcelona Airport, we have checked in for our flight, and are ready to depart for London Gatwick.

Thank you to all of the students for making the trip such a memorable experience. They have been a credit to the school throughout the visit, and we hope they return with lots of wonderful memories to share with their families.
