There was another great turnout for this year’s Year 5 and 6 Basketball Competition with 16 teams from our Partnership Schools. The afternoon consisted of the group heats being played, with the winners and runners-up from the groups (Herne Juniors, Bysing Wood, Swalecliffe, Hampton, Davington, Joy Lane, Briary and Herne Bay Juniors) going through to play in the quarter finals, then onto the semi-finals with some more exciting play and the competition really heating up between Herne Juniors, Davington, Swalecliffe and Briary.
Davington and Briary went into a very close and exciting final with the added challenge of the game being played on a bigger court. There was some exceptional play from some of the boys in both teams and the speed of play from the Davington girls made for an exciting final resulting in a well deserved win by Davington, with Briary runners-up and Swalecliffe in third place.
A big thank you to all the schools for attending and special thanks to the East Kent Basketball Referees and to the HBHS school leaders who helped to run this event.
